Illuminate

Hi there friends, we have prepared another Bible page process for you. Today we are journaling in Revelation 21 and pondering on verse 22 and playing with everything that shines. Hope you play along with us…

Remember our first step is always to protect the other pages of our Bible we are not working on, by placing printer paper over them and behind the page we will be working on.

I journalled in my Illustrated Faith Bible and decided to keep the background simple. I used a water spritzer to spray some clean water on the page to help the water colour paints I want to add, to move beter. I used our Koi water colours today they have lovely bright colours and because the message of today says that our city will be Illuminated by God’s glory and not the sun or anything else, these bright colours were perfect.

I firstly added only a layer of yellow paint, then after drying it with my heat tool I added orange as well. On some areas I wanted the paint to be lighter so I added more water to the pigment, and where I wanted a more vibrant colour I added pigment directly to the page. At the bottom of the page I also added some green paint. Just play until you are happy with the backgroud. With our fabulous gold paints I made splatters to add an extra effect to the background.

In my stash I have a stamp set all about home, and with that stamp set came a set of dies that cuts a little house with a roof and chimney. I used the dies to cut buildings for my city from the foiled cardstock in the kit. To create bigger buildings I cut an extra piece with just the windows to create another story for my buildings. If you do not have building dies you can cut squares and triangles to create your city.

To create depth I placed the buildings on the page and painted around them with a little brown paint to create shadows. After drying the paint I glued my city with some liquid glue. There was also hearts that is part of the roof die, and I used them to create some smoke above the one building’s chimney.

When you are glueing the foil cardstock be careful, with your sticky fingers the tacky glue will show. I used a baby wipe to clean the glue from some of my buildings. For the heading of my page I cut out the subheading in my devotional booklet and coloured the sides of the fussy cut word strips with some chalk ink.

To illuminate my heading I used Stickes (you can use any glitter glue, or add some clear gesso and sprinkle some glitter over and around the words) and made lines to create the effect of the heading shining.

After pondering my verse I wrote a prayer thanking God for His glory that illuminates the world and used my favourite writing and sketching pen, a Pigma micron. I underlined the verse with a gold gelly roll pen and with a date stamp I also added a date to the page to remind myself when I journaled this page.

To create a page marker for my page I cut out the heading of my page and again used some chalk ink to go around the edges. In the kit there is some gold ribbon, that I tied onto a paper clip and with liquid glue I added the word “Illuminate” onto the ribbon.

Hope you enjoyed the process, there is also a video on our you tube channel for you to follow along.
