My friend Teresa created the cutest faithdex boxes with the Celebr8 Thankful Heart Mini packs. We shared these packs and I created a Bible journal workshop kit with the pages we shared. This first video and blogpost is all about my process decorating the box. Hope you enjoy it!
To save some time I already painted the box with Tjoko paint left over from projects I did to decorate my kitchen, the day before. The colour I used was “Da vid”.
To start I gathered supplies I wanted use to create a background first, I loved the piece of serviette in the kit with the script on but wanted more, I did not want to go out and buy some more but thought I could create my own script serviette. I separated the layers and used the white layer to create another text serviette to decopage with. I selected script stamps in my stash and stamped with Versafine Onix Black Ink all over the serviette to create the script effect.
After creating another script serviette to decopage with I used Distress Collage Medium to glue it to the faithdex box. First I painted a layer of Collage Medium, placed the serviette over the painted area and painted the Collage Medium over the serviette again to seal it.
To create more interest and create grooves for the inks I will be using later, I used Finnabair Paper paste through the stencil that you can buy in addition to the paper pack, only in some areas around the box, and dried it with my heat tool before adding inks to the project.
After drying the texture paste with my heat tool I used my ceramic paint pallet and sprayed some Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Spray in it and added a little water. With a paint brush I added th colour in places, spritzed some water on the ink and made it run over the project. I did the same with Antique Linen Oxide Spray and in less places I also used Pine needles Oxide Spray, and dried the ink in between layers and added water spurts to the ink to create funky colours and to make the ink run over the project.
For the last step I added white gesso to my pallet and added Antique linen Oxide Spray to make it a creamy colour. Then with a small round sponge that I recycled from a vitamin bottle I dabbed the cream gesso over the whole of the project to soften the colours a bit. The box is not yet finished, I still need to paint the bottom of it, decorate some more and add the dangles and feet. I will do this as a final touch as I want to create some of the cards first and then use what is left to decorate some more.
Hope you will play allong and get your kit soon. Here is a video that shows more of my process, hope you enjoy it.
