You can download the free devotional for this workshop in our shop. We will be playing with watercolour paints today and add some definition with colouring pencils to the painted stamped image. Bookmark / Secret journal spot
Add the stamp to your Acrylic Block and Ink it up with the Black Archival Ink. If your stamp is still new stamp it on a scrap piece of paper first before you stamp your image for the bookmark on the Bristol / Water colour paper. Stamp 2 to 3 images.
I used my Prima Topicals Watercolour paints set to colour the images. For the large image of a halved orange I used the colours Hibiscus and Sunset. For the Lime I used the Parot and Palms colours. The cherries I coloured with the Sunset colour and the stems of the cherries with the colour Palms. For the smaller orange slice I used Hibiscus again with the colour Pineapple and these colours I also used to colour the piece of pineapple. The background I coloured with the colour Tiki. Add as many layers as you wish and dry the water colour paints in between layers. Remember to paint two images.
To add more definition to the images I played with my Tombow Irojiten colouring pencils and added more colour to the images on one of the painted stamped image to deepen the colours in some places. From the dull tones set I used Tyrian Purple and from the Florescence set I used Equatorial Orange, Lightning Yellow, Firefly Yellow and Vigorous Green. Once you are happy with the images you defined, fussy cut them out as these images we will raise with some foam tape, and some would be used on your page as decor.
Colour another piece of cardstock with your water colour paints and cut it into two pieces of 7cm x 21cm or 8 and 1/4” x 2 and 3/4”. Then with thin double sided tape, glue them together to create your secret hiding place for extra journaling. I also used a 1,5” circle punch to punch a half circle to assist getting your journaling in and out of the pocket.
Glue one of the coloured stamped images onto your bookmark, then add the pieces you fussy cut with some double sided foam to raise them, but before your stick them down add some angel hair for some bling and extra interest. Add the fabric to the top of the bookmark with a stapler or Tiny Attacher. I also distressed the edges of the bookmark with some Walnut Stain Distress Ink. You can also round the corners of the bookmark.
Journal Page
Colour your journal page with some watercolour paints and use parts of your stamp to create a border around your journaling. Use some of your favourite markers to do some mark making, if you are unsure use your stamp as inspiration.
I added some die cuts to the page to decorate it and had some quiet time in which I journaled the verses from our devotional. And also do not forget your gold splatters. Hope you enjoyed playing along.
